The Nasen [National Association for Special Educational Needs] and TES Book Awards,
held in the grand British Library, London, UK, represent excellence and best practice
mainly in books for special educational needs. Amongst the prestigious collection of
resources nominated, Buzan’s iMindMap was one of the only two digital resources amongst them.
The five award categories highlighted the exceptional resources that make a huge
difference to people with special educational needs across the UK. Buzan’s iMindMap,
which was shortlisted for ‘The Inclusive Resource for Secondary Classroom Award’, was
the only nominated software program in its category.
iMindMap’s easy to use interface and varied functionality makes its it extremely
useful for helping students with learning difficulties, particularly dyslexia. The
program helps to free students from semantic restrictions, allowing for more natural,
complete and accelerated self-expression.
Due to Mind Maps inability to rely on students’ language levels, their aptitude to
write or their comprehension of grammar, they offer all children the same opportunity
to express their ideas, their creativity and their understanding of a topic. They
therefore also provide a very clear and true representation of knowledge.
Buzan Online’s Managing Director Chris Griffiths commented: “We are thrilled to have
been shortlisted amongst such impressive resources. iMindMap’s ability to offer a channel
for children who struggle with writing or expressing their knowledge is a great accolade.
We hope many children and adults continue to benefit from it”
