In the prestigious UK IT Industry Awards 2009, iMindMap has been short-listed for Best New Product Developed in the UK. Run by the highly esteemed British Computer Society (BCS) and ‘Computing’ publication, the Awards offer a platform for the entire IT profession to showcase and celebrate best practice, innovation and excellence.

It has been announced that iMindMap is a finalist in the Best New Product category based on its innovation, customer satisfaction and success. The software was based upon a shared vision of Chris Griffiths and Tony Buzan to produce a computer based tool that accurately reflected the true nature of Mind Mapping. Since its launch in 2007 its success has soared and it is now currently used in FTSE 100 and Fortune 100 companies, including BP, BT, Microsoft, Reuters, Rolls-Royce, Tesco, Intel and Vodafone. It is also utilised among companies such as NASA, Pizza Hut, ITV, IBM, BSkyB, US Air Force and HP.
UK IT Industry Awards commented: “It was a very competitive selection process, with a lot of high-quality entries, and those who have made the shortlist can be justifiably proud of their achievement.”
Chris Griffiths, Buzan Online’s Founder and CEO, said: “We have always believed iMindMap was a truly innovative product and its huge success in such a short space of time is a testament to this. It is a very proud moment for the whole of the Team for this to be officially recognised.”
The culmination of developing technology to achieve the ambitious challenge of moving the hand-drawn Mind Mapping process from paper to computer and most importantly an accessible tool that could be used by EVERYONE has lead iMindMap to be a leading contender in its category.
David Clarke, BCS Chief Executive stated: “I’m particularly pleased to see so many entries in these difficult economic conditions; it reinforces the importance of IT in delivering business and social benefit. Our Awards are central to our drive to create the IT profession and the finalists can be proud of their achievements.”
The new awards programme merges the longstanding Computing Awards for Excellence and the BCS IT Industry Awards to create a realm where IT companies and professionals can display their innovation and creativity. The winners will be announced at the lavish prize-giving ceremony, to be held at the Battersea Park Events Arena in London on Thursday 12 November 2009.
